South Sudan won independence from Sudan under a peace agreement in 2011 but the world’s newest country is now caught in a ferocious civil war that has killed tens of thousands of people.

Boda Boda

Moto-taxis, locally called boda boda, are the most common form of urban transport in South Sudan. Groups of drivers are frequently found at the corners of markets or busy town areas. Boda bodas provide a fast, cheap way of traveling, though they are not very safe.

Railways

South Sudan has 248 km (154 mi) of single-track 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) narrow gauge railway line from the Sudanese border to Wau terminus. There are proposed extensions from Wau to Juba. There are also plans to link Juba with the Kenyan and Ugandan railway networks.
